JUVELAN meets… SIDONIE SMITH

 Welcome back to our series of “JUVELAN meets…” where we catch up with all our models in the past 5 years. Tonight we are saying hi to SIDONIE SMITH! Sidonie was in 2013, together with the musical stars Annemieke van Dam and Ana Milva Gomes, cover girl for our black & white jewellery collection “Heatwave”. A collection that is still very popular with us due to its classical designs and every woman should have at least one of its pieces in their jewellery box. And… last but not least… Sidonie, Annemieke and Ana had their very own, awesome version of Martha and the Vandellas’ song Heatwave recorded and our videographer Liesbeth Vandamme made a music video out of it! Sidonie has a wonderful personality, always smiling and on top of all that, she is a multi talented and creative woman and musical artist. Let’s find out what has happened in Sidonie’s life since our photo shoot together and what favourite JUVELAN piece she is having. What have you been up to since our photo shoot together with you?
Oh, wow! Lots and lots! Since our wonderful shoot I’ve had the privilege of appearing in the European tour of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (Chiffon), JEKYLL & HYDE (Lucy), SWEENEY TODD (Johanna) and I had the awesome opportunity to reprise one of my favorite roles: Deloris van Cartier in SISTER ACT! In my offstage life, my husband and I founded a fashion line called: YOUR COSPLAY CLOSET and have had the joy of custom creating garments and costumes for customers the world over!

What are your strongest memories from the latest photo shoot we did with you?
One of my favorite impressions of that day is the image of our fantastic videographer, Liesbeth Vandamme balancing atop a huuuge ladder in order to get some of the beautiful music video shots. I also am extremely fond of the photo where Annemieke, Ana Milva and I are all waving to a passing car full of curious onlookers– a completely candid moment captured perfectly by photographer, Conny Wenk! 🙂

Do you have a favourite JUVELAN jewellery piece?
That’s a hard one! I often say that my favorite color is “black sparkly”, so the Ronette Shoulder Dusters are definitely a favorite of mine! They’ve accompanied me to many a premiere :). I also can’t go without mentioning the phenomenal black Swarovski shoulder piece the Juvelan designer, Johan hand crafted– absolutely stunning!

What are you looking forward to the most right now?
I had been looking forward so much to Thanksgiving recently! It’s my very favorite holiday because it reminds of home and togetherness and gratefulness for the many, many blessings we have in our lives. (Oh! And the food is pretty spectacular too!:))

What are you currently up to? / What’s on your life agenda? / Are we able to see you live on stage somewhere?
My husband, Christopher Ryan, and I have recently relocated from Los Angeles to Trier (on the southwest border of Germany, just a short distance from Luxembourg and France). We are settling in, preparing to open our European studio for YOUR COSPLAY CLOSET and rehearsing and performing some great shows! You can catch us live at Theater Trier this season in SWEENEY TODD, JEKYLL & HYDE, RENT, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and the newest show that I have the privilege of adding to my schedule this season is THE BODYGUARD in Cologne as a Walk In for the role Whitney Houston made famous! Looking forward to tackling these legendary songs and the beautiful love story!

Things that make my heart warm

A great man once called and asked me to make a very special necklace for his wife as a gift for their anniversary. The result: this fairytale-like golden necklace with aquamarines. His wife got so happy and I fell in love with the design just as much as she did that I decided to put it in our JUVELAN collection for everyone to see. Every time I make it (I just finished an order of this) I think of the little story behind it and get really warm in my heart. 🙂 /Johan

JUVELAN meets… VALERIE LINK

Welcome to our series of “JUVELAN meets…” where we catch up with all our models in the past 5 years. Tonight we are saying hi to VALERIE LINK ! Valerie has almost been with us since the very beginning and has also been returning as one of our most beloved models many times. Not only is she on the cover on three (!) lookbooks, but she has also been providing our online shop with here extremely beautiful jewellery bags throughout the years and she is regularly wearing our jewellery on red carpet events. When we got to Valerie 4 years ago, we just fell in love with her straight away. She is a wonderful talented musical performer, mother-in-law dream, best wife a man can have and now also a mother-to-be. Thanks to our favourite team member, photographer Conny Wenk, we have SO many photos of Valerie in our archive and it was not easy to make a little selection for tonight’s article. What have you been up to since our photo shoot together with you?
Oh, quite a lot actually! I got to know the man of my life, we got married and next year our baby comes into the world. Career wise, I moved to Hamburg after “Rebecca” (that’s where I got to know JUVELAN), and played Christine Daaé in “The Phantom of the Opera” at Neue Flora Theatre for 2 years. Of course, there are many other things that have happened, but all of that wouldn’t fit in here! 🙂

What are your strongest memories from the latest photo shoot we did with you?
Well, my very first photo shoot with Conny Wenk was supposed to be only a portrait shoot for myself! Then you guys suggested to do a little “test photo shoot” with me since you were exploring locations for where to shoot your next upcoming collection. This little try-out turned into my first (but not the last!), very own JUVELAN Lookbook… Except of that, I can only say that we always have great fun together, time always flies by and the result is always wonderful photos. I am already now looking forward to the next photo shoot with you! (to give a broad hint ;-))

Do you have a favourite JUVELAN jewellery piece?
The necklace “Galadriel” is simply wuuuuunderschööööööön! And I must say, that I actually didn’t wear any earrings until I got some of yours. 😉

What are you looking forward to the most right now?
Just to be at home and to have lots of time together with my man.

What are you currently up to? / What’s on your life agenda? / Are we able to see you live on stage somewhere?
No, I’m not on stage at the moment. I played my last show as Christine Daaé in “The Phantom of the Opera” on September 30th. At the moment I am enjoying my little baby break.  ☺️

JUVELAN meets… TAMARA

As a part of our 5-year-anniversary of JUVELAN, we had the little idea of getting in touch with all our super models we have been working with ever since the beginning, and ask them 5 questions including what they have been up to since their last photo shoot with us. We got so happily overwhelmed as each and everyone answered us immediately with their personal and fun stories. Tonight, it is finally time to kick off and start this blog series of JUVELAN meets… We welcome you to please join in the fun to read about all these beautiful women and to once again look back at all the amazing photos that our beloved photographer Conny Wenk made.

We would like to start with our very first lookbook cover model from 2011… please say hello to TAMARA ! This is the famous “girl with the freckles”, the positive and adorable young model with her whole life ahead of her. Her smile is so contagious and we will never forget meeting her for the first time, it was simply love at first sight. We had some of our most memorable photo shoot moments together with her, no wonder she ended up on not only one, but three covers!

What have you been up to since our latest photo shoot together with you?
– I am currently in the discovery phase of my life. Meaning – I’m doing internships at different companies to figure out what else I would enjoy to do except of modeling. However, my dream is still to get into the modeling industry, so I’m ready for more shootings!

What are your strongest memories from the photo shoots we did with you? 
– Well, the fun actually always begins as soon Conny arrives and with Freddy I can always fool around with in a wonderful way. Like that, the photo shoots are always lots of fun and never tiring – except for my stomach muscles from all the laughing!

Do you have a favourite JUVELAN jewellery piece? 
– Oh yes – the long beautiful silver necklace with red carnelian. And also the butterfly bracelets.

What are you looking forward to the most right now? / What are you currently up to? / What’s on your life agenda? 
– Unfortunately, I had fewer model bookings in the last couple of months and I find that very sad and unfortunate. I am working hard, always practicing poses and doing cat walk training in front of the mirror at home. It is about time for new photo shoots and challenges, so that my model colleague from Australia is not so alone anymore on the “special model market”! So let’s go!
